Traumatology and Orthopedics

Frozen shoulder is treated by Chinese herbal fumigation combining with needling on both Extra Lingxia and movements in these years, and received satisfying effects. There are 22 cases in this group. Treatment: fumigate on local areas with Chinese herbs: the herbs which activate blood, eliminate blood stasis, expel wind, relieve pains, relax muscles and tendons and open meridians (Hai Tong Pi, Shen Jin Cao, Tou Gu Cao, Ru Xiang, Mo Yao, Dang Gui, Fang Feng, Bai Zhi and Hong Hua) are mainly used with dose modification according to patients’ conditions, once a day and 30 minutes per time. Needling: Choose Extra Lingxia (2 cun below Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon); after getting qi, twirl, lift and thrust the needles with large amplitude in every 5 minutes to strengthen the stimulation. The qi sensation of some patients can reach the affect shoulder. Once a day, about 20 minutes for every treatment and one course is 7 days. Besides, do Tuina massage on shoulder and neck, and suggest the patients to do anterior flexion, abduction, superduct, posterior extension, internal rotation and external rotation, etc.

Treatment results: the total effect is 96%.
