Ru Xiang

Regulate Blood

1 TASTE
Pungent, bitter and warm


2 MERIDIANS
Heart, liver and spleen


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To invigorate blood and stop pain, 2. To reduce swelling.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Pains caused by blood stagnation: a) dysmenorrhea-Frankincense (Ru Xiang) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui), Chuan Xiong rhizome (Chuanxiog) and Cyperus tuber (Xiang Fu); b) stomach pain-Frankincense (Ruxiang) is used with Sichuan chinaberry (Chuan Lian Zi) and Corydalis tuber (Yan Hu Suo); c) general pain or joint pain due to invasion of wind-cold-damp. Frankincense (Ruxiang) is used with Notopterygium root (Qiang Huo), Futokadsura stem (Hai Feng Teng), Large-leaf gentian root (Qianhuo), Chinese angelica root (Danggui) and Chuanxiong rhizome (Chuanxiong) in the formula root (Danggui) and Chuanxiong rhizome (Chuanxiong) is the formula Juanbi Tang; d) Pains caused by external injuries-Frankincense (Ruxiang) is used with myrrh (Mo Yao), Dragon blood (Xue Jie) and Safflower and furuncles with swelling-Frankincense (Ruxiang) is used with Myrrh (Moyao), Red peony (Chi Shao) and Honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua) in the formula Xianfang Huoming Yin.2. Boils and ulcers. The powders of Frankincense (Ruxiang) and Myrrh (Moyao) are used externally. The combination is called Haifu San.


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated during pregnancy.
