Experience of Simple Obesity Treated by TCM [1]

Obesity mostly relates with stomach heat, phlegm and dampness, spleen deficiency, liver qi stagnation, blood stasis. Clinically, several types are together, we should use corresponding methods for difficult types such as to clear heat, tonify spleen, dry or remove dampness, regulate liver qi, activate blood etc. Herbs commonly used to tonify spleen have Fu Ling [3], Bai Zhu [4], Yi Yi Ren [5]; Herbs commonly used to benefit kidney have Dong Chong Xia Cao [6], Bu Gu Zhi [7], Yin Yang Huo [8] etc; Herbs commonly used to dry dampness have Ban Xia [9], Chen Pi [10], Cang Zhu [11] etc; Herbs commonly used to promote water circulation have Ze Xie [12], Fu Ling, Zhu Ling [13], Che Qian Zi [14] etc; Herbs commonly used to remove dampness have Chen Pi, Hou Po [15], Sha Ren [16], Zhi Shi [17]; Herbs commonly used to regulate liver qi have Xiang Fu [18], Chai Hu [19], Chuan Lian Zi [20] etc; Herbs commonly used to activate blood have Yi Mu Cao [21], Dan Shen [22], San Leng [23], Er Zhu etc. Besides, we can add suitable Ma Huang [24], Shan Zha [25], Lai Fu Zi [26] etc. Comprehensive therapies can obtain good effects.
