The Experiences on Rheumatism and Dermatosis Treated with Vermin Drugs (Part I) [1]

Rheumatism includes rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatic arthritis, and numbness, heavy sensation of four limbs. Although Pathogenic wind, cold and damp exist, the obstinate wind invades into the meridian deeply, and the main reason for disease is blood stagnation, kidney deficiency and bone insufficiency. Therefore, a remarkable effect will be received if applying the vermin drugs to dispel pathogenic wind, opening meridians, activating blood, tonifying kidney and strengthening bone besides dispelling pathogenic wind, cold and damp. Prescriptions: Ma Yi powder 5g, Quan Xie [3] 10g, Wu Gong [4] 2 pieces, Di Long [5] 15g, prepared Chuan Cao Wu 10g for each, Wei Ling Xian [6] 15g, Qin Jiu 15g, Shen Jin Cao 15g, Qiang Du Huo [7] 10g for each, Wu Jia Pi [8] 15g, Lian Cao 15g, Niu Xi [9] 20g, fresh Sang Ye [10] 20g, Du Zhong [11] 20g and Sang Ji Sheng [12] 20g.be decocted for oral taking and fumigation. Modifications: rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis are followed with kidney deficiency and blood stasis, and add Du Zhong, Sang Ji Sheng, Tu Bie Chong, Shu Di and Rou Gui [13] to tonify kidney, strengthen bone, activate blood and eliminate stasis; rheumatic arthritis is wandering due to excess of pathogenic wind and add Ma Huang [14] and Fang Feng [15] to dispel pathogenic wind; heavy sensation and sore sensation of four limbs are qi and blood stagnation and obstruction of meridians, and add Wu Shao She, Tu Bie Chong, Huang Qi [16], Dang Gui [17], Chuan Xiong [18], Hong Hua [19] and Gui Zhi [20] to open meridians, benefit qi and activate blood.
