Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral and anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior braches of the 8th and 10th thoracic nerves of the periumbilical venous network. In the deep layer, there are the branches of tributaries of the superior epigastric artery and vein and the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 8th to 10th thoracic nerves.


Location:
Supine position; 1 cun above the level of umbilicus, 2 cun apart from the midline of the abdomen laterally .
Function:
Relieving convulsion, resolving phlegm, strengthening the stomach, and preventing or arresting vomiting.


Indications:
Gastric pain, vomiting, mania.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of enteritis and dysentery; with ShaohaiHT3 (Shaohai (HT3) He-Sea Point) for treatment of wagging tongue and stiff tongue.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of destension and heaviness, radiating throughout the side of the abdomen; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
