Clinical Controlled Observations on Cardiac Angina Pectoris Treated with Kuan Xin Tang [1]

All these86 patients are outpatients and inpatients. They are divided into Kuan Xin Tang Group (treatment group, 46 cases) and Xiao Xin Tong group (control group, 40 cases) by random. Kuan Xin Tang is applied with oral administration in treatment group: prescription: Bi Ba 12g, Xiang Fu [3] 9g, Gui Zhi [4] 12g, Liang Jiang 9g, Huang Qi [5] 30g, Dan Shen [6] 15g, Chuan Xiong [7] 15g, Hong Hua [8] 12g, Jiang Xiang [9] 9g, Gua Lou [10] 15g, and Jiu Bai 9g. Modifications: for purple tongue and pain in chest, San Qi [11] powder and Xuan Hu are added; for palpitation and sweating, Zhen Zhu Mu [12] and Fu Xiao Mai [13] are added; for hyperlipemia, He Ye [14] and raw Shan Zha [15] are added; for high blood pressure, Tian Ma [16], Gou Teng [17] and Xia Ku Cao [18] are added. Xiao Xin Tong is applied with oral administration in control group; 10mg for once and 3 times a day. The disease courses of both groups are 4 weeks. During the treatment, all other Chinese and western medicines are stopped taking, and for the outbreak of severe cardiac angina pectoris, NTG is applied with sublingual administration. Results: the total effect is 95.65% in the treatment group and 82.5% in the control group.
