Diarrhea treated with He Ye [1]

He Ye [3] has the functions of ascending the clear qi, strengthening spleen, eliminating damp to treat Diarrhea [4]. Strengthen spleen and benefit qi to keep away from damp; ascend the clear and descend the turbid with two-ways regulation; stable nature, neither too cold nor too hot. It can be applied for many kinds of diarrhea with accurate differentiation and proper compatibility. The normal dose is 15~20g. Classifications according to differentiation: add He Ye to Wei Qin Tang for pathogenic cold and damp in spleen; apply Ge Gen [5], He Ye, Ye Ma Cao, Che Qian Zi [6], Fu Ling [7], Mai Ya [8], Gu Ya [9], Bai Zhu [10], Huang Lian [11] and Gan Cao [12] for damp heat in intestinal tract; add He Ye into Dong Heng Sheng Yang Yi Wei Tang for spleen qi deficiency to tonify and benefit middle qi, ascend clear and eliminate damp.
