86 Cases of Treatment of Sterility Given by Zhong Yu Tang [1]

I make Zhong Yu Tang to treat 86 patients with sterility and obtain good effect.

Among 86 cases, there are 36 cases caused by liver qi stagnation, 38 by kidney deficiency, 12 by phlegm and dampness. Oldest patient is 36 years old and youngest 25.

Ingredients and modification: Zhong Yu Tang includes Xiang Fu [3], Chai Hu [4], Dang Gui [5], Bai Zhu [6], Bai Shao [7], Fu Ling [8], Dan Pi, Gui Zhi [9], Gou Ji [10] Zi, Tao Ren [11]. Modification: adding Ba Ji Tian [12], Lu Jiao Shuang, Fu Zi [13] to warm up kidney yang and uterus for kidney deficiency leading to malnourishment of uterus; adding Zao Pi, Shu Di Huang [14] to nourish yin and essence, tonify chong and CV meridians for kidney essence deficiency resulting in dysfunction of chong and CV meridians; adding Xiang Fu, Yu Jin [15], Dan Shen [16] to free flow liver qi, activate blood and stop pain for liver qi stagnation and distention on breasts and hypochondriac region; removing Gui Zhi, Tao Ren and adding Sheng Di Huang [17], Zhi Zi [18], Huang Bai [19] to clear heat, cool blood and stop bleeding for liver fire from qi stagnation to cause bleeding; adding Cang Zhu [20], Bi Xie [21] to stop dampness and phlegm, ascend clear qi and descend turbid qi for retention of dampness and phlegm to cause dysfunction of clear qi and turbid qi and retention of uterus to result in large amount of leucorrhea; adding Chuan Duan, Gou Ji Zi, Du Zhong [22] to strengthen lumbar region and tendon for lumbago; adding Dang Shen [23], Huang Qi [24] to recapture qi from collapse for qi deficiency.

Experience: I summarize Zhong Yu Tang according to basic principles of female sterility and my clinical experience. Zhong Yu Tang has functions to regulate liver qi, promote chong and CV meridians, strengthen kidney and spleen, nourish essence, benefit ascending of clear qi and descending of turbid qi, stop dampness and phlegm.
