Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-aponeurosis of external oblique muscle of abdomen-internal oblique muscle of abdomen-transverse muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the superficial epigastric artery and vein , the lateral and anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 12th thoracic nerve and the 1st lumbar nerve . In the deep layer, there are the spermatic cors (or round ligament of the uterus). the ilicinguinal nerve , and the genital branches of the genitofemoral nerve, and the genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve in the inguinal canal at the inferior lateral side of this point.


Location:
Supine position; 2 cun laterally apart from QuguCV2(Qugu (CV2)) which is in the depression over the upper border of pubic symphysis.
Function:
Relaxing muscles, regulating the menstruation, regulating the flow of the flow of qi to alleviate pain.


Indications:
Abdominal pain, borborygmus, hernia, swelling and pain of the external genitalia, impotence, dysmenorrhea, and irregular menstruation.


Prescription:
Combined use with SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatment of emission and impotence; and with TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of small intestine hernia; and with ZhangmenLR13 (Zhangmen (LR13)Front-Mu Point of the Spleen, Influential Point of Zang Organs) for treatment of insomnia.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension, irradiating toward the pudendal area; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
