3 FUNCTIONS
1. To invigorate blood and promote menstruation; 2. To stop pain and reduce swelling


4 INDICATIONS
1. Blood stagnation manifested as dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea and postpartum abdominal pain. Sappan wood (Su Mu [3]) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui [4]), Red peony (Chi Shao [5]) and Safflower (Hong Hua [6]).2. Swellings and pains caused by external injuries. Sappan wood (Sumu) is used with Frankincense (Ru Xiang [7]) and Myrrh (Mo Yao [8]).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated during pregnancy.
