Regulate Blood

1 TASTE
Sweet, salty, slightly pungent and neutral


2 MERIDIANS
Heart, liver and spleen


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To invigorate blood and promote menstruation; 2. To stop pain and reduce swelling


4 INDICATIONS
1. Blood stagnation manifested as dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea and postpartum abdominal pain. Sappan wood (Su Mu) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui), Red peony (Chi Shao) and Safflower (Hong Hua).2. Swellings and pains caused by external injuries. Sappan wood (Sumu) is used with Frankincense (Ru Xiang) and Myrrh (Mo Yao).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated during pregnancy.
