Clinical Observation of Treatment of 31 Cases of Secondary Amenorrhea Due to Premature Ovarian Failure Given by Si Er Wu He Method [1]

Premature ovarian failure refers to diseases of non-physiological amenorrhea, infertility, estrogen deficiency, as well as elevated levels of gonadotropin before 40 years old due to some reasons. Sometimes, there is hot flashes, sweating etc menopause symptoms, it is similar to the physiological amenorrhea, namely early menopause or premature menopause. The writer applied senior TCM doctor’s 425 Formula for the treatment of 31 cases of Secondary amenorrhea due to premature ovarian failure. Treatment method: for treatment group: using 425 Formula with prescription ingredients of Dang Gui [3] 12g, Bai Shao [4] Yao 12g, Chuan Xiong [5] 6g, Shu Di Huang [6] 12g, Fu Pen Zi 12g, Tu Si Zi [7] 12g, Wu Wei Zi [8] 9g, Che Qian Zi [9] 12g (decoct with bag), Huai Niu Xi [10] 15g, Gou Qi Zi [11] 15g, Xian Mao [12] Gen 9g, Yin Yang Huo [13] 12g, modification according to syndrome differentiation. As to contrast group (29 cases): oral taking Premarin 0.625mg per day for 21 days; after 14-21 days, adding medroxyprogesterone tablet, 4mg per day for 8 days; treating for 3-6 courses.

Treatment result: total effective rates are 87.1% and 55.2% in treatment group and contrast group.
