Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-gastrocnemius muscle-soleus muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the small saphenous vein and the medial cutaneous nerve of the calf. In the deep layer, there are the tibial nerve and posterior tibial artery and vein.


Location:
1. Lie pronely, extend lower limbs, straightened upwards; at the tip between two bellies of m. gastrocnemius. 2. Upright two hands raised to press the wall and tiptoes touching the floor; at the tip between two bellies of m. gastrocnemius.
Function:
Relaxing the muscles and tendons and relieving spasm, strengthening the waist and knee, and regulating qi and the functions of the intestines.


Indications:
Pain in the waist and legs, sciatica, systremma, paralysis of the lower limbs, hemorrhoid, proctoptosis, vomiting, Diarrhea, constipation, gonorrhea, beriberi, and infantile convulsions.


Prescription:
Combined use with HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35)) for treatment of proctoptosis, hemorrhoid; with HuantiaoGB30 (Huantiao (GB30 )) for treatment of sciatica; with JiexiST41 (Jiexi (ST41) Jing-River Point), TaibaiSP3 (Taibai(SP3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point), and DaimaiGB26 (Daimai (GB26)) for treatment of tenesmus; with KunlunBL60 (Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point) for treatment of swelling of the calf; and with ZhongfengLR4 (Zhongfeng (LR4) Jing-River Point) for treatment of cramp in case of cholera morbus.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-2 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the foot; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
