Regulate Blood

1 TASTE
Salty and slightly cold


2 MERIDIANS
Liver and stomach


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To invigorate blood and promote menstruation; 2. To promote lactation; 3. To reduce swelling and dispel pus.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Amenorrhea caused by blood stagnation. Pangolin scale (Chuan Shan Jia) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui), Chuanxiog rhizome (Chuan Xiong) and Safflower (Hong Hua).2. Postpartum insufficient lactation. Pangolin scales (Chuanshanjia) is used with Vaccaria seed (Wang Bu Liu Xing), Ricepaper pith (Tong Cao) and Chinese angelica root (Danggui).3. Wind-damp obstruction syndrome manifested as joint pain and motor impairment. Pangolin scales (Chuanshanjia) is used with Chuanxiong rhizome (Chuanxiong), Notopterygium root (Qiang Huo), Pubescent angelica root (Du Huo) and Ledebouriella (Fang Feng).4. Beginning of carbuncles and swelling manifested as red, hot, painful swollen skin. Pangolin scales (Chuanshanjia) is used with Honeylocust thorn (Zao Jiao Ci). Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuan Bei Mu), Frankincense (Ru Xiang), Myrrh (Mo Yao), Red peony (Chi Shao) and Honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
Pangolin scales (Chunshanjia) should be used cautiously in sores that have already ulcerated. This substance is contraindicated during pregnancy.
