3 FUNCTIONS
1.To warm and tonify the spleen and kidneys; 2. To prevent emissions and stop Diarrhea [3]


4 INDICATIONS
1. Invasion of cold in the spleen and kidneys manifested as abdominal pain and vomiting. Bitter cardamom (Yi Zhi Ren [4]) is used with Pilose asiabell root (Dang Shen [5]), White atractylodes(Bai Zhu [6]) and Dried ginger (Gan Jiang [7]).    2. Kidney deficiency manifested as enuresis and seminal emissions. Bitter cardamom (Yizhiren) is used with Dioscorea (Shan Yao [8])and Lindera root (Wu Yao [9])in the formula Suoquan Wan.   3. Diarrhea and excessive salivation due to spleen deficiency. Bitter cardamom (Yizhiren)is used with Poria (Fu Ling [10]), Dioscorea (Shanyao), Pilose asiabell root (Dangshen) and Pinellia tuber (Ban Xia [11]).

3-6g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with deficiency of in excessive fire, seminal emissions, frequent urination and uterine bleeding caused by heat.
