3 FUNCTIONS
1. To cool blood and invigorate blood; 2. To release toxins and bring the rash to the surface; 3. To promote bowel movement and moisten the intestines.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Incomplete expression of rash in measles due to toxic heat in the blood. Arnebia (Zi Cao [3]) is used with Cicada slough (Chan Tui [4]), Arctium fruit (Niubanzi).2. Maculopapule in febrile disease. Arnebia (Zicao) is used with Redpeony (Chi Shao [5]),Moutan bark (Mu Dan Pi [6]), Honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua [7]) and Forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao [8]).3.Prevention of measles. Arnebia (Zicao) is used with Licorice root (Gan Cao [9]).4.Boils, carbuncles, burns and injury due to cold. Arnebia (Zicao) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui [10]), Dahurian angelica root (Bai Zhi [11]) and Dragon blood (Xue Jie [12]) as an external application in the formula Shengji Yuhong Gao.


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated during weakness of the spleen accompanied by Diarrhea [13].
