65 cases of cervical spondylosis are from outpatient and nerve root type. Treatment method: combination of acupuncture and external application of herbs, acupuncture points: main points: neck jiaji from C3 to C7, Fengchi (GB20) [3] (Fengchi (GB20) [4]), Fengfu (GV16) [5] (Fengfu (GV16) [6]), Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point [7](Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point [8]), Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point [9] (Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point [10]); combined with Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point [11] (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point [12]), Waiguan (TE5) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point [13] (Waiguan (TE5) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point [14]), Jianjia for soreness, numbness and pain on arms; with Jianjing (GB21) [15] (Jianjing (GB21) [16]), Jianyu (LI15) [17] (Jianyu (LI15) [18]), Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [19] (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [20]) for pain on shoulder and back. Prescription of herbs: Chuan Wu 15g, Cao Wu 15g, Gu Sui Bu [21] 10g, Lu Lu Tong 15g, Chuan Shan Jia [22] 10g, Sang Zhi [23] 10g, Yan Hu Suo [24] 15g. Acupuncture is once a day, 20 minutes every time; external application of herbs is once every other day with 7 hour’s application every time, 10 days are one course, taking 5 days break between two courses.
Treatment result: total effective rate is 97%.
