50 Cases of Senile Habitual Constipation Treated with Yi Qi Run Chang Tang [1]

The author have treated 50 cases of this disease by self-made Yi Qi Run Chang Tang, and contrasted with 28 cases treated with Ma Zi Ren Wan. In the treatment group, apply self-made Yi Qi Run Chang Tang and it comes from modification of both Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang and Ma Zi Ren Tang. The prescription: prepared Huang Qi [3], Dang Shen [4], Dang Gui [5], Bai Zhu [6], raw Bai Shao [7], Huo Ma Ren [8], Gua Lou [9] Ren, Zhi Qiao, Rou Cong Rong [10], Raw He Shou Wu [11], prepared Da Huang [12] and Gan Cao [13]. Increase the dose of drugs which tonify middle energizer and benefit qi for severe qi deficiency; increase the dose of drugs which nourish blood for blood deficiency; for excess heat and dryness of stomach and intestine and constipation, subtract prepared Huang Qi, Dang Shen, Dang Gui, chang Da Huang into raw Da Huang, and add Xuan Shen [14] and Mai Dong to relax bowel, clear away heat and eliminate stagnation.

Treatment results: the total effective rate of treatment group is 94% and 78.6% in the control group.
