1. Cough due to invasion by exogenous pathogenic factors. Swallowwort rhizome (Bai Qian) is used with Schizonepeta. (Jing Jie) and Platycodon root (Jie Geng) in the formula Zhisuo San.2. Turbid phlegm blocking the lungs: a) cold-phlegm cough-Swallowwort rhizome (Baiqian) is used with Trichosanthes fruit (Gua Lou).3.Cough, asthma, edema and rattling sound in the throat. Swallowwort rhizome (Baiqian) is used with Aster root (Zi Wan) and Peking spurge root (Da Ji) in the foumula Baiqian Tang.
