Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the superficial epigastric vein, the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 8th to 10th thoracic nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In tne deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the superior epigadtric artery and vein, the muscular branches of the anterior branches of 8th to 10th thoracic nerves and the related intercostal arteries and veins.


Location:
Supine position; firstly, locate XiawanCV10(Xiawan (CV10)) 2 cun above umbilicus, then 0.5 cun lateral to XiawanCV10(CV10).
Function:
Regualting the flow of qi and the function of the intestines.


Indications:
Stomach-ache, hernia, and peritonitis.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of gastritis; and with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for the treatmnet of gastrospasm.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local distension and heaviness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Shangqu (KI17) For its deep part, its related organs include the graeter omentum, the small intestine and the stomach that filled in the abdominal cavity.
