Chest Bind Patterns
Line 128
“Question:  There is a disease called chest bind, and there is one called storehouse (zang organ) bind.  What form does it take? Answer: If there is pain when pressure is applied, and the inch pulse is floating, and the bar pulse is sunken, this is called chest bind.”

Line 131
“When the disease springs from yang, yet purging is used, the heat enters the interior and causes chest bind.  When the disease springs from yin, yet purging is used, the evil causes a glomus.  Why the disease becomes chest bind is because purging was used too early.  In chest bind, with nape stiffness as in soft tetany, purge and then there will be harmony.  Da Xian Xiong Wan is appropriate.

Da Xian Xiong Wan

Da Huang half Jin
Ting Li Zi half Sheng (dry fry)
Mang Xiao half Sheng
Xing Ren half sheng (remove skin, tips dry fry till black)”
