3 FUNCTIONS
1. To nourish yin and tonify the kidneys;2. To cool the blood and stop bleeding



4 INDICATIONS
1. Deficient yin of the liver and kidneys manifested as early graying of hair, dizziness, vertigo and blurred vision. Eclipta (Han Lian Cao [3]) is used with Grossy privet fruit (Nu Zhen Zi [4]) in the formula Erzhi Wan.    2. Deficient yin with internal heat causing extravasation of blood manifested as vomiting with blood, epistaxis, hematuria, bloody stool and uterine bleeding. Eclipta (Hanliancao) is used with Fresh rehmannia root (Sheng Di Huang [5]), Donkey hide gelatin (E Jiao [6]), Imperata rhizome (Bai Mao Gen [7]) and Cattail pollen (Pu Huang [8]).    3. Hemorrhage due to external injuries. Eclipta (Hanliancao) is used alone for external use to stop bleeding.



5 DOSAGE
10-15g (double dosage for the fresh herb)



6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with Diarrhea [9] cue to cold and deficiency of the spleen and stomach.
