Acupuncture Points / Urine Bladder Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-tendon of long peroneal muscle-tendon of short peroneal muscle-lateral talocalcaneal ligament.
There are the branches of the small saphenous vein. the sural nerve and the lateral anterior malleolus artery and vein in this area.


Location:
Sit upright, hang down two shanks, with two feet touching the ground or lie supinely; 0.5 cun vertically below the malleolus lateralis. There are tendons anteriorly and posteriorly, malleolus above it, and cartilarge beneath it.
Function:
Tranquilizing the mind, relaxing the muscles and tendons, strengthening the waist and knee.


Indications:
Headache, cerebrospinal meningitis, Meniere's disease, epilepsy, schizophrenia, ankle arthralgia, pain in the waist and legs, arteriosclerosis, hysterospasm, and apoplexy.


Prescription:
Combined use with FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20) [3]) for treatment of Meniere's disease; with JinmenBL63 (Jinmen (BL63) Xi-Cleft Point [4]) for treatment of nervous headache; with HouxiSI3 (Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point [5]), and QianguSI2 (Qiangu (SI2) Ying-Spring Point [6]) for treatment of epilepsy; and with TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point [7]), QuquanLR8 (Ququan (LR8) He-Sea Point [8]), and YangxiLI5 (Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point [9]) for treatment of conjunctival congestion and swelling and pain of the eye.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
