Acupuncture Points / Small Intestine Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-deltoid muscle-infraspinous muscle.
In the superficial layer, there is the lateral supraclavicular nerve. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the suprascapular artery and vein and posterior circumflex humeral artery and vein.


Location:
Upright sitting with drooping shoulder, adduct the upper arm; on the inferior border of spina scapulae, vertically above JianzhengSI9 (Jianzhen (SI9) [3]) at the end of the postrior stria of axilla.
Function:
Activating collaterals and resolving mass..


Indications:
Swelling of the shoulder, aching and weakness of the shoulder and arm.


Prescription:
Combined use with TianzongSI11 (Tianzong (SI11) [4]) for treatment of my ositis of musculus infraspinatus; and with QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point [5]) for treatment of tuberculosis of cervical lymph nodes.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 1.0-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension and numbness, radiating to the elbow; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 20 min.
