Performing syndrome differentiation using TCM basic theory is a feasible method, it may commonly relieve most of the disease. However, as for some complex disease, there is limitation of this method. Then, reverse thinking, namely “deviation” of general thinking, treating the disease with the reverse method, could to some extent gain satisfactory effect.

1. Hot herbs treating pseudo heat, cold herbs treating pseudo cold: to treat heat syndrome using heat herbs and to treat cold syndrome using cold herbs.
2. Upper syndrome is treated by lower- oriented herbs, lower syndrome is treated by upper- oriented herbs: treatment that is contrary to the syndrome position.
3. Purgatives treating Diarrhea [3], tonics treating stuffiness: as to diarrhea and prolapse syndrome, the former may be treated by method of nourishing yin and promoting stools, the latter might be treated by method of tonifying spleen and promoting qi.

Reverse treatment method is the treating principle that accords with the feint of the syndrome, in fact, it is the method that against the real situation of syndrome essence. During the treatment period, the emphasis is the dosage of herbs, it should be arranged from small dosage and increasing gradually. When it comes to the side effect after using the herbs, the dosage can be adjusted according to the disease condition, the treatment should stop when necessary.
