Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous-tissue-between ulnar flexor muscle of wrist and superficial flexor muscle of fingers-deep flexor muscle of fingers-quadrate pronator muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the tributaries of the basilic vein. In the deep layer, there are the ulnar artery and vein and the ulnar nerve.
Location:
Supinate palm; on the radial border of the tendon of ulnar flexor muscle of the wrist, 1 cun above the transverse stria of the wrist.
Function:
Tranquilizing the mind, clearing away heat of deficiency type, and clearing and activating channels and collaterals.
Indications:
Palpitation , dizziness, blurring of vision, sore throat, sudden loss of voice, aphasia with stiffness of the tongue, pain in the wrist and elbow.
Prescription:
Combined use with SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6) [3]) and GuanyuanCV4 (CV 4) for treatment of menorrhagia; with TianchuangSI16 (Tianchuang (SI16) [4]) for treatment of schizophrenia; with XinshuBL15 ( Xinshu (BL15) [5]) for treatment of arrhythmia.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun deep; needling response: a sensation of distension and numbness which may radiate to the hand.
