Differentiation of Overcoming or Relapse in Reversal Heat Patterns

Line 342
“When in cold damage, there is reversal for four days, but then heat for three days, then again reversal for five days, it means the disease is advancing.  There is more cold and less heat and yang qi is abating; hence the disease is advancing.”

Line 334
“When in cold damage, if there is reversal first and then fever, Diarrhea [3] will spontaneously cease.  But if there is sweating and soreness in the throat, this is throat impediment [Swelling and pain in the throat region w/ a feeling of congestion & inhibition].  When there is fever and sweating is absent, diarrhea will spontaneously cease.  If it does not cease, there will be pus and blood in the stool.  If there is pus and blood in the stool, throat impediment is absent.”
