Acupuncture Points / Stomach Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-root of nail.
There are the dorsal digital nerve of the medial dorsal pedal cutaneous nerve and the dorsal digital anteriovenous network in this area.


Location:
Supine or upright sitting position; at the meeting point of the line along the lateral side of the nail of the 2nd toe and the line along the base of it.
Function:
Clearing away stomach-fire, tranguilizing and resolving phlegm, activating the collateral and inducing resuscitation.


Indications:
Facial swelling, deviation of the mouth, epistaxis, toothache, sore throat and hoarse voice, abdominal distension, coldness in the leg and foot, febrile diseases, dream-disturbed sleep, and mania.


Prescription:
Combined use with ShuigouGV26 (Shuigou (GV26) [3]) and NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point [4]) for treatment of shock and collapse; with XiaguanST7 (Xiaguan (ST7) [5]) for treatment of toothache; with DadunLR1 (Dadun (LR1) Jing-Well Point [6]) for treatment of somnolence; with YinbaiSP1 (Yinbai(SP1) Jing-Well Point [7]) for treatment of nightmare; and wit and ChongyangST42 (Chongyang (ST42) Yuan-Source Point [8]) and JiexiST41 (Jiexi (ST41) Jing-River Point [9]) for treatment of febrile disease with anhidrosis.


Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously 0.1-0.3 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of soreness; moxibustion: using 1-3 moxa-cones.
