1. Cough due to invasion by exogenous pathogenic factors. Swallowwort rhizome (Bai Qian [3]) is used with Schizonepeta. (Jing Jie [4]) and Platycodon root (Jie Geng [5]) in the formula Zhisuo San.2. Turbid phlegm blocking the lungs: a) cold-phlegm cough-Swallowwort rhizome (Baiqian) is used with Trichosanthes fruit (Gua Lou [6]).3.Cough, asthma, edema and rattling sound in the throat. Swallowwort rhizome (Baiqian) is used with Aster root (Zi Wan [7]) and Peking spurge root (Da Ji [8]) in the foumula Baiqian Tang.
