1 TASTE

Heart liver and gall bladder


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To invigorate blood and stop pain; 2. To promote qi circulation and release stagnation; 3. To cool blood and clear heat in the heart; 4. To relieve jaundice and facilitate gall bladder function.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Qi and blood stagnation: a) pain in the chest, abdominal or hypochondriac regions-Curcuma root (Yu Jin [3]) is used with Red sage root (Dan Shen [4]). Cyperus tuber (Xiang Fu [5]), Bupleurum root (Chai Hu [6]) and Bitter orange (Zhiqiao); b) dysmeorrhea due to qi and blood stagnationa. Curcuma root. (Yujin) is used with Bupleurum root (Chaihu), Cyperus tuber (Xiangfu), White peony root (Bai Shao [7]) and Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui [8]).2. Mental derangement due to interior damp-warm attacking. Curcuma root (Yujin) is used with Grass-leaved sweetflag (Shi Chang Pu [9]) in the formula Chanpu Yujin Tang.3. Jaundice due to interior accumulation of damp-heat. Curcuma root (Yujin) is used with Oriental wormwood (Yin Chen Hao [10]) and Capejasmine (Zhi Zi [11]).


5 DOSAGE
6-12 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb should not be combined with Cloves (Ding Xiang [12]).
