1 TASTE
Bitter, cold and slightly toxic


2 MERIDIANS
Liver, stomach, small intestine and urinary bladde


3 FUNCTIONS
To regulate qi and stop pain


4 INDICATIONS
1. Qi stagnation in the liver and stomach manifested as epigastric and abdominal distension and pain. Sichuan chinaberry (Chuan Lian Zi [3]) is used with Corydalis tuber (Yan Hu Suo [4]) in the formula Jinlingzi San.2. Hernia with painful swelling of testicles or scrotum. Sichuan chinaberry (Chuanlianzi) is used with Fennel Fruit (Xiao Hui Xiang [5]). Costus root (Mu Xiang [6]) and Evodia fruit (Wu Zhu Yu [7]) in the formula Daoqi Tang.


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with deficiency and cold in the stomach and spleen.
