1 TASTE
Bitter, Pungent and slightly cold


2 MERIDIANS
Stomach, liver and gall bladder


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To dispel wind and dampness; 2. To clear heat caused by yin deficiency.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Wind-damp obstruction syndrome: a) pain with heat sings-Large-leaf gentian root (Qin Jiao [3]) is used with Tetrandra root (Fang Ji [4]) and Honeysuckle stem (Rendongteng); b) pain with cold signs-Large-leaf gentian root (Qinjiao) is used with Notopterygium root (Qiang Huo [5]) Pubescent angelica root (Du Huo [6]), Cinnamon twigs (Gui Zhi [7]) and Prepared aconite root (Fu Zi [8]).2. Afternoon fever caused by deficient yin. Large-leaf gentian root (Qinjiao) is used with Sweet wormwood (Qing Hao [9]). Turtle shell (Bie Jia [10]), Anemarrhena rhizome(Zhi Mu [11]) and Wolfberry bark (Di Gu Pi [12])v in the formula Qinjiao Biejia Tang.3. Damp-heat jaundice. Larger-leaf gentian root (Qinjiao) is used with Oriental wormwood (Yin Chen Hao [13]) and Capejasmine (Zhi Zi [14]).


5 DOSAGE
5-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with deficient yin.
