1 TASTE
Bitter, Pungent and cold


2 MERIDIANS
Stomach, liver and gall bladder


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To dispel wind and dampness; 2. To stop pain; 3. to relieve edema.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Wind-damp obstruction syndrome: or damp-heat obstruction syndrome. Tetrandra root (Fang Ji [3]) is used with Coxi seed (Yi Yi Ren [4]), Talc (Hua Shi [5]), Silkworm excrement (Can Sha [6]) and Chaenomeles fruit (Mu Gua [7]). 2. Cold-damp obstruction syndrome,. Tetrandra root (Fangji) is used with Cinnamon twigs (Gui Zhi [8]) and Prepared aconite root (Fu Zi [9]). 3. Edema: a) edema with heat signs-- Tetrandra root (Fangji) is used with Lepidium seed (Ting Li Zi [10]) and Zanthoxylum (Jiaomu) in the formula Ji Li Huang Wan; b) edema with signs of weakness of the spleen-- Tetrandra root (Fangji) is used with Astragalus root (Huang Qi [11]) and White atractylodes (Bai Zhu [12]) in the formula Fangji Huangqi Tang.


5 DOSAGE
5-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with deficient yin.
