1 TASTE
Bitter and cold


2 MERIDIANS
Heart, liver, lung, stomach and triple jiao


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To clear heat and reduce fired; 2. To cool blood release toxins; 3. To eliminate dampness


4 INDICATIONS
1. Febrile diseases manifested as high fever, irritability, delirium and loss of consciousness. Capejasmine (Zhi Zi [3]) is used with Prepared soybean (Douchi), Forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao [4]) and Scutellaria root (Huang Qin [5]).2. Jaundice with fever and dysuria. Capejasmine (Zhizi) is used with Oriental wormwood (Yin Chen Hao [6]), Rhubard (Da Huang [7]) and Phellodendron bark (Huang Bai [8]).3. Extravasation caused by heat in the blood manifested as vomiting blood, epistaxis and hematuria. Capejasmine (Sheng Di Huang [9]), and Scutellaria root (Huangqin).4. Boils and carbuncles. Capejasmine ( Zhizi) is used with Coptis root (Huang Lian [10]), Scutellaria root (Huangqin) and Honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua [11]).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
The herb is contraindicated in cases with weakness of the spleen and Diarrhea [12].
