3 FUNCTIONS

1. To expel wind and clear heat;

2. To clear heat in the liver and benefit the eyes.

4 INDICATIONS

1.Wind-heat exterior syndrome manifested as fever, headache, sore throat and cough. Mulberry root (Jie Geng [3]), Mentha (Bo He [4]) and Forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao [5]) in the formula Sang Ju Yin.

2.Lung attacked by dryness and heat manifested as cough with Apricot seed (Xing Ren [6]), Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chrysanthemum) flower (Ju Hua [7]), Cassia seed (Jue Ming Zi [8]) and Plantain seed (Cheqinzi).

3. Deficient yin of the liver manifested as dizziness and blurred vision. Mulberry leaf (Sang Ye [9]) is used with Ligustrum (Nu Zhen Zi [10]) Wolfberry fruit (Gou Qi Zi [11]) and Black sesame seed (Hei Zhi Ma [12]).
