Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-gastrocnemius muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the leg from the saphenous nerve and the tributaries of the great saphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the popliteal artery and the tibial nerve.


Location:
Flex the knee; firstly, locate YanglingquanSP9(Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point [3]) under medial condyle of tibia, 1 cun posterior to YanglingquanSP9(SP9).
Function:
Removing wind and damp, improving the knee joint movement.


Indications:
Pain in the knee and sore throat.


Prescription:
Combined use with QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point [4]) for treatment of rheumatic arthritis; and with HuantiaoGB30 (Huantiao (GB30 ) [5]) for treatment of paraparesis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 1-1.5 cun depth; needling response: local numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
