Acupuncture Points / Liver Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-medial surface tibial.
There are the medial cutaneous branches of the leg from the saphenous nerve and the great saphenous vein in this area.


Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; firstly, draw a horizontal line along the medial side of tibia 5 cun above the tip of medial malleolus. at the juncture of the intermediate 1/3 and posterior 1/3 of this line.
Function:
Soothing the liver, and regulating qi and menstruation.


Indications:
Retention of urine, enuresis, hernia, irregular menstruation, leukorrhea with reddish discharge pruritus vulvae, and weakness and atrophy of the leg.


Prescription:
Combined use with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine [3]) for treatment of endometritis; and with HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35) [4]) for treatment of eczema of scrotum.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.5-0.8 cun depth; needling response: local distention and numbness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
