Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-posterior auricular muscle.
There are the great auricular nerve, the lesser occipital nerve, the posterior auricular branches of the facial nerve, and the auricular branches of the posterior auricular artery and vein in this area.


Location:
Sit upright or lie prostrate on one's side; on the postauricular hairline, at the midpoint of the line connecting ChimaiTE18(Chimai (TE18) [3]) and JiaosunTE20(Jiaosun (TE20) [4]) along helix .
Function:
Improving the acuity of hearing, relieving convulsions, purging away the heat.


Indications:
Infantile vomiting, headache, deafness, toothache, tympanitis, retinal hemorrhage, epilepsy, asthma, encephalemia, and goiter.


Prescription:
Combined use with FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20) [5]), QiuhouEXHN7 (EX-HN7) for the treatment of retinitis; with YifengTE17 (Yifeng (TE17) [6]), HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [7]) for treatment of tympanitis.


Methods:
Insert the needle horizontally, 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local distension and pain; moxibustion: using 1-3 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
