Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-tendon of posterior tibial muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the suphenous nerve to the leg and the tributaries of the great saphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the medial tarsal artery and vein.


Location:
Upright sitting with centres of two soles opposing each other; in the depression on the inferior border of malleolus medialis, vertically below the apex of malleolus medialis. Or, in the depression slightly below the meeting point of the vertical line passing through the apex of malleolus medialis and the horizontal line passing through the lower border of malleolus medialis.
Function:
Tonifying yin to clear away the heat, inducing diuresis, relieving mental stress, and regulating menstruation.


Indications:
Chronic laryngopharyngitis, tonsillitis, neurasthenia, hysteria, epliepsy, irregular menstruation, hysteroptosis, and constipation.


Prescription:
Combined use with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine [3]) for treatment of endometrial inflammation; with HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [4]) for treatment of tonsillitis; with WaiguanTE5 (Waiguan (TE5) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point [5]) for treatment of retention of placenta; and with ZhigouTE6 (Zhigou (TE6) [6]) for treatment of constipation.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
