Acupuncture Points / Urine Bladder Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greatest gluteal muscle-middle gluteal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the superior middle clunial nerves. In the deep layer, there are the superior gluteal artery and vein and the superior gluteal nerve.


Location:
Lie pronely; at the level of the lower border of spinous process of the 2nd sacral vertebra, 3 cun apart from the posterior median line laterally.
Function:
Relaxing the bowels and urination, and strengthening the waist and spinal column.


Indications:
Lumbago, uroschesis, sciatica, enteritis, constipation, anuresis, gonorrhea, orchitis, spasm of the straight muscle of abdomen, and backache.


Prescription:
Combined use with YinmenBL37 (Yinmen (BL37) [3]) for treatment of sciatica; and with ZhongjiCV3 (Zhongji (CV3) Front-Mu Point of the Bladder [4]) for treatment of urocystitis, urethritis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating downwards.
