Acupuncture Points / Urine Bladder Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-latissimus muscle of the back-inferior posterior serratus muscle-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 11th and 12th thoracic nerves of the accompanying arteries and veins. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the 11th and 12th thoracic nerves and the branches or tributaries of the related intercosra and infracostal arteries and veins.


Location:
Lie prostrate or pronely; at the level of the lower border of spinous process of the 11th thoracic vertebra, 1.5 cun apart from JizhongGV6(Jizhong (GV6) [3]) laterally.
Function:
Invigorating the spleen, governing the blood, and regulating Ying and Wei system.


Indications:
Gastrohelcoma, gastritis, gastroptosis, gastrospasm, gastric dilatation, gastric hemorrhage, neurogenic vomiting, dyspepsia, enteritis, dysentery, hepatitis, anemia, dropsy, hepatosplenomegaly, chronic hemorrhagic disease, nephroptosis, hysteroptosis, diabetes, myasthenia of limbs, icterus, asthma, nephritis, hydrops, infantile night blindness, and urticaria.


Prescription:
Combined use with GanshuBL18 (Ganshu (BL18) [4]), ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23) [5]), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6) [6]) for treatment of diabetes; with QimenLR14 (Qimen (LR14) Front-Mu Point of the Liver [7]), TianzhuBL10 (Tianzhu (BL10) [8]) for the treatment of infective hepatitis; and with ZhongwanCV12 (Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach [9]), TianshuST25 (Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine [10]), ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point [11]) for treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.


Methods:
Insert the needle horizontally 0.5-0.8 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture deeply, or else the needle would penetrate the transversospinal muscle-the external intercostal muscle-the internal intercostal muscle-the parietal pleura-the pleural cavity-the visceral pleura and the lung by its tip, and cause the injury of lung tissue, leading to pneumatothorax, in case the patient is inspiring and his lower border of lung descending.
