Treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia Given by Acupuncture [1]

There are 40 cases of trigeminal neuralgia from outpatient. Selected points: main points: Yu Yao point on supraorbital foramen, Sibai (ST2) [3] on infraorbital foramen, Chengjiang (CV24) [4] on mental foramen. The supplementary points: adding Waiguan (TE5) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point [5] if there is wind evil attacks meridians, adding Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point [6] and Neiting (ST44) Ying-Spring Point [7] if there is hyperactivity of liver yang and heat stasis in liver-stomach, adding K3 if there is qi-blood deficiency with deficiency-fire. Methods: acupuncture needle, needling to nerval orifices until the evident sense of needling appears on the face, or the feeling of electric shock is obvious. Vertical needing in Yu Yao point for 2 fen , vertical needing in ST2 for 8 fen, oblique needling in CV24 for 1 cun, vertical needling in LR3 and ST44 for 3 fen, reducing technique is applied; vertical needling in K3 for 1 cun, reinforcing method is used. Acupuncture 10 times is one course. Treatment result: total effective rate is 80%.
