Remain of Burn Wound Surface Treated by Compound Zi Cao Oil [1]

On the late stage of deep burn wound, there are some remains with different sizes left that will be difficult treated and prolonged if management is not quick and good. We apply Compound Zi Cao [3] (Lithospermum) Oil for 34 cases of remain of burn wound surface. Treatment method: all of cases are no infection so do not need antibiotic treatment. Management on wound surface: sterilize wound surface with 5g/L iodine if surface is not severe; wash surface with saline to clear slough then sterilize wound surface with 5g/L iodine if surface is severe, cover surface with semi-exposed way by single layer gauze with Compound Zi Cao Oil (ingredients: Zi Cao 20g, Huang Bai [4] 30g, Da Huang [5] 30g, Huang Lian [6] 15g, Bing Pian [7] 4g, Sesame oil 500g). Once a day and continue 3 to 5 days, Autologous skin grafting if wound surface is more than 3cm×3cm, then cover all of surface with Compound Zi Cao Oil gauze and wrap up, after three days, cover surface with semi-exposed way by single layer gauze with Compound Zi Cao Oil. Result: all cured within 9±2 days, and no more autodermic graft.
