Differentiation and Treatment of Chronic Gonarthromeningitis [1]

On internal therapy: According to clinical differentiation, this disease can be divided into wind-cold bi syndrome, wind-dampness bi syndrome, qi and blood stagnation, spleen deficiency and dampness, spleen and kidney yang deficiency, liver and kidney yin deficiency. Clinically, several types are together. In etiology, blood stagnation occurs after prolonged traumatic injuries or strain in the knee joints, then body is attacked by wind, cold and dampness due to weak body constitution, specially dampness; there is a saying prolonged diseases must have blood stasis, we should consider to activate blood and eliminate stagnation, therefore, we should apply herbs to tonify deficiency, remove dampness and stop stagnation according to differentiation. On external therapy: apply plaster and herbal bath, perform massage, physical therapy, acupuncture and moxibustion, hot compress etc, acupuncture and moxibustion select points on local region and due to differentiation, locally use Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point [3] (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point [4]), Xiyan (EX-LE5), Liangqiu (ST34) [5] (Liangqiu (ST34) [6]), Fengshi (GB31) [7] (Fengshi (GB31) [8]), Chengshan (BL57) [9] (Chengshan (BL57) [10]), Sanyinjiao (SP6) [11] (Sanyinjiao (SP6) [12]), Futu (ST32) [13] (Futu (ST32) [14]), Heding (EX-LE2), Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point [15] (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point [16]), Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point [17] (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point [18]), then choose other points according to syndromes of differentiation.
