Clinical Observation on Treatment of Recurrent Aphtha Given by Liu Wei Di Huang Wan [1]

We choosed 208 patients with recurrent aphtha and have unabridged case history in treatment group, among which, there are 90 male patients and 118 female patients. Treatment method: there are 208 cases in treatment group: taking Liu Wei Di Huang Wan combining with herbal powder with the ingredients of  Bing Pian [3] (synthetic borneol), Bing Pian (borax), Wei Zei Gu, Wu Wei Zi [4], Geng Mi, Mu Tong [5], calcining Shi Gao [6], Hu Huang Lian [7] etc. Firstly, the herbs mentioned above should be divided and crush into powder before drying. Ultraviolet radiation for half hour, weighing up 60g and enclosing it into sterile bag for preparation. Method: using tampon to dip a litter powder and applying on affected area, 5-8 times per day, oral taking Liu Wei Di Huang for 3 months. West medicine contrast group: 80 cases, general treatment, including vitamin, collutory, immunosuppressive agents, lysozyme tablets etc, adding antibiotics if there is infection. Result: total effective rate is 94.3% in treatment group and 75% in west medicine group, there exists obvious difference in the two groups (P<0.05).
