Chinese Medicine Classic / Nei Jin [2]

The Emperor asked: "What about the pulse of healthy people?"

Qi Bo answered: "A man exhales once while the pulse beats twice, and he inhales once while the pulse beats twice, and then the pulse beats once again in the interval. This man is called a healthy person who has no ailments. We often measure the patient’s pulse in contrast to our own breathing. If the doctor is healthy, he can tranquilize his own breath to measure the patient’s pulse."
