Chinese Medicine Classic / Nei Jin [2]

Human blood, qi, essence and spirit are what supply existence and perfect life. The channels are where the qi and blood run in the ways of yin and a yang. They are what moisten the tendons and bones, and what smooth the joints. The defensive qi is what warms the muscles, fills the skin, nourishes the muscular striae, and controls the opening and closing of the sweat pores. The resolution and idea are what govern the spirit, astringe the soul, adapt to cold and warmth, and appease joy and anger. Therefore, if the blood is harmonious, the channels will be unimpeded. The blood will run in the yin and yang. The tendons and bones will be sinewy, and the joints will be flexible. If the defensive qi is harmonious, the muscles will move easily, the skin will be smooth and the muscular striae will be compact.

Key Words: root zang-organs, in the divine pivot
