The Emperor asked: “Why is that the spleen does not dominate an individual seasons?”

Qi Bo answered: “The spleen pertains to soil. It dominates the center. The other four zang-organs dominate the four seasons respectively. The spleen dominates the middle eighteen days in every season. It does not dominate an individual season. The spleen always manifests the essence of stomach soil noticeably. The soil generates everything and takes the rules of the heaven and earth. The spleen qi reaches the head and feet, up and down. The spleen does not dominate an individual season.”
