The Emperor asked: “The Taiyin spleen meridian acts exterior and interior relating with Yangming stomach meridian. Why do they have different illness?”

Qi Bo answered: “The two meridians have different locations. They alternate vacuity and repletion, and favorableness and unfavorableness in the four seasons (Yangming is repletion and Taiyin is vacuity during spring and summer; Taiyin is repletion and Yangming is vacuity during fall and winter. Taiyin is unfavorableness and Yangming is favorableness in spring and summer; Yangming is unfavorableness and Taiyin is favorableness during fall and winter). The incidence of the disease may from endogenous, or from the outside reasons. Different attributes determine different diseases.”
