35 Cases of Cervical Vertigo Treated With Traction Combining with Massage on Certain Acupoints [1]

There are 35 cases in this group. (1) paroxysmal vertigo, nausea and vomiting when the head over extends or turns to one direction; (2) degeneration of cervical vertebra in different degree according to X-ray; (3) mostly, related with invasion from cold and fatigue; (4)  generally, no tinnitus for cervical vertigo. Treatment: apply sitting position cervical vertebrae traction device; wear cervical vertebrae traction sheath, and low the head slightly. The weight of traction begins from 3kg and is added till 9kg gradually according to the patients’ constitution and disease state; once a day, 5 minutes traction at very beginning, and increase the time till 30 minutes gradually. Apply Massage on certain acupoints after traction: the acupoints are: Extra Yin Tang, Extra Tai Yang, Chengqi (ST1) [3], Baihui (GV20) [4], Yuzhen (BL9) [5], Dazhu (BL11) Influential point of bone [6] and Fengmen (BL12) [7]. The manipulations are An (pressing), Rou (kneading), Tui (pushing), Ya (pressing) and Na (grasping). Treatment results: the total effective rate is 94.2%.
